Help support Sunday Afternoon Salsa at Robson Square this summer
Thank you to everyone who has made a donation to the 2023 season of Sunday Afternoon Salsa at Robson Square. We have reached our $5,000 fundraising goal.
If you’re part of Vancouver’s salsa community, you already know that salsa dancing at Robson Square on Sunday afternoons in the summer is an amazing experience.
What you may not know is that although the events are free to the public, the Robson Square facility is not free to use for large organized events like ours. The events are expensive to run and Sunday Afternoon Salsa at Robson Square relies entirely on sponsorship and donations to meet the event costs.
Over the past five years, the fees to rent the Robson Square space have increased by over 500%, and it costs us $1,500 each day to run the Sunday Afternoon Salsa dances. The expenses include:
- Rental of the Robson Square facility
- Additional rental cost for the secure bag check room
- Additional fees to have the washrooms open
- Janitorial and cleaning
- Sound system for the event
In previous years we’ve run crowdfunding donation campaigns to help cover the expenses not met by existing event sponsorship, and every year we’ve been overwhelmed by the support from our dance community.
