Coat & Bag Check

There is a coat check / bag check available to safely store your belongings (cost $2, cash only), located in the skate rental room at the north end of Robson Square.

While many people leave their bags and belongings on the ice rink, Robson Square is a public space and every Sunday a few people report stolen bags. For your security, we recommend using the bag check. The $2 fee (cash only) goes towards the costs of running the events.

Free Dance Lessons and Dance Shows

The Sunday Afternoon Salsa dances start with a free beginner dance lesson (either Salsa or Bachata) at 3pm for anyone who has ever wanted to learn how to dance, even those who claim they have two left feet! The lesson lasts for half an hour (3:00-3:30pm) and is taught by instructors from Baza Dance Studios.

At 5pm there are dance performances by local dancers and dance companies representing a wide variety of different dance styles.

The Sunday Afternoon Salsa dances are open to everyone and you are welcome even if you’ve never danced a day in your life.

About

Sunday Afternoon Salsa at Robson Square is a free community salsa dance event in downtown Vancouver, organized by Jennifer and Stephen Dancey of Dancey Events. The events were originally created in 2006 with fellow salsa dancer Drew Matlow (co-organizer of the first two seasons). In 2022 Baza Dance Studios became a co-organizer and co-host of the festival.

Volunteers from Vancouver’s salsa dance community help run the events every Sunday.
